WWE SmackDown highlights, results and review
SmackDown took place this week in the city of ‘brotherly love’ Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center.
Huge matchups with Survivor Series implications were already confirmed to hype up the show and there were some great highlights from the night.
King Corbin opened the episode and received a royal entrance alongside Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode.
The trio made a mockery out of Roman Reigns. ‘The Big Dog’ came out dressed as a mascot-type dog to bend down on his knees in front of Corbin.
Following the opening sequence, Shorty G and Mustafa Ali competed against Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.
Corbin distracted Ali and G during the match forcing Roman Reigns to finally come out and nail Corbin with a spear.
Gable then hit a German Suplex on Ziggler as Ali executed the 450-splash on him to get the win.
Braun Strowman came out on SmackDown to throw a beatdown on Drew Gulak and The B Team who were standing inside the ring.
Gulak and Dallas were able to escape the scene but Strowman punished Axel with a Running Powerslam to end the segment.
Tag team turmoil
SmackDown Tag Team Titles rematch was next between The Revival and The New Day.
The match ended as a DQ thanks to the interference of The Undisputed Era, NXT Champion Adam Cole, NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong, NXT Tag Team Champions Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly.
They attacked all four of the competitors only to find out the SmackDown locker room emptying out to make the save. The Undisputed Era then had to retreat.
Heavy Machinery squashed Kevin Tibbs and Kip Stevens hitting a Caterpillar and the Compactor.
New Universal title
Bray Wyatt introduced us to the blue version of the Universal Championship. In another backstage segment, Daniel Bryan refused to join the team of Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn.
Bayley vs. Nikki Cross was the next matchup with the Survivor Series team spot on the line.
A bunch of NXT female superstars attacked the competitors causing the disqualification.
The singles match was then converted into a tag team match with the lineup of Sasha Banks, Dana Brooke, Carmella and Nikki Cross vs. Rhea Ripley, Mia Yim, Tegan Nox, and Dakota Kai.
Cross got the pinfall win on behalf of SmackDown female roster by planting Kai with a swinging neck-breaker.
Daniel Bryan was the special guest on Miz TV in the main event segment of SmackDown.
Bryan was fired up following some insulting words from The Miz and challenged The Fiend Bray Wyatt to a match (since Wyatt attacked him last week).
Soon Wyatt appeared on the screen to accept the match. The Miz confirmed Wyatt vs. Bryan at Survivor Series for the Universal title to close out the show.
