WWE SmackDown highlights, results, review and grades: The Miz speaks out ahead of TLC clash against Bray Wyatt
WWE SmackDown highlights, results, review and grades: Dolph Ziggler and King Corbin came out to open SmackDown as they basked in glory from their shenanigans from last week.
Roman Reigns was humiliated but the New Day came out to have a word with the pair.
Kofi Kingston and Corbin were then made the main event for the night, but things didn’t stay like that at the end of the show.
Grade D
It didn’t make sense why the New Day came out when Corbin uttered those words. The segment did set up the main event, but it felt so forced.
Where was Reigns in all this? Oh yeah, that’s for another segment then.
Bliss chalks up another win
Alexa Bliss made it a winning return in the previous episode. The Goddess was paired with Nikki Cross as they faced Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.
Rose and Deville attacked their opponents before the match started, but Cross picked up the win with a neckbreaker.
Cross and Bliss beat Deville and Rose
Grade D
Bliss and Cross are back, they won last week. They did it again, and this match served no real purpose in the end.
Great tag team action
The Revival warmed up for their clash against the New Day at TLC by taking on Shorty G and Ali.
This was a great match between the pair and we saw some great spots from the two tags teams too.
The Revival ultimately picked up the win with the Shatter Machine and can look forward to a Ladder Match for the tag titles on Sunday.
The Revival beat Ali and G
Grade B
G and Ali had some great moments in this clash but it was the right result with the Revival winning. They are a great tag team and have momentum heading into TLC.
Bayley warms up against Brooke
Dana Brooke had a weird segment last week with Elias, and she was in action against the SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley tonight.
The Champion picked up a clean and quick win over Brooke. Sasha Banks wasn’t with the champion, but it didn’t make much of a difference.
Bayley beat Brooke
Grade C
The fight didn’t make much sense as Brooke got a high last week and a low this time around.
The WWE don’t know what to do with her it seems, while they didn’t explore the rivalry between Lacey Evans and Bayley either.
Wyatt enters the Miz’s home
Renee Young interviewed the Miz ahead of his clash against Bray Wyatt at TLC. She asked the A-Lister a range of questions regarding why he wanted to highlight Daniel Bryan.
Miz claimed that although he didn’t like Bryan, he respected him and it was time for “The Miz” to do the right thing.
Young asked if Miz was scared of Wyatt, but before that Maryse called out her husband for help. They watched on a baby monitor that some of Wyatt’s dolls were with their baby girl.
Wyatt also wanted to be let in, and the pair rushed upstairs. It was a little weird seeing the Miz sent Maryse into the kid’s room first, and they saw their daughter playing with a Fiend doll.
The Miz’s asked for the cameras to be cut as the segment ended.
We got a new Firefly Funhouse segment after this as Wyatt claimed he would help the Miz to not feel love.
Grade B
It was an interesting interview in the Miz’s house as the A-Lister did a great job. Maryse was also great in the segment, and it will be interesting to see how the A-Lister fights on Sunday.
Nakamura and Cesaro in action
Heavy Machinery faced off against Nakamura and Cesaro. The heels had Sami Zayn by the side but it was Machinery who had the upper hand early in the fight.
However, after the break,Nakamura and Cesaro did a great job of isolating Tucker. Things then turned when Otis was brought in by Zayn provided a distraction to help Nakamura pick up the win.
Nakamura and Cesaro beat Heavy Machinery
Grade B
A good match but again, no real storyline here. Heavy Machinery were great again, and it was a surprise they were given the L.
Zayn did his bit being the manager of the pair, while Cesaro and Nakamura looked good as a team.
Kingston vs Corbin turns into a tag match
The match between Kingston and Corbin hadn’t even started before a brawl between the four (Ziggler and Big E) ended that match.
Big E demanded a tag match and we got that but Corbin and Ziggler tried to do the same humiliation to Kingston as they did to Roman Reigns last week.
The handcuffs came out again while the Revival entered to control Big E. However, Reigns came out to make the save before Kingston could be covered with dog food.
Reigns ended the night on top of the ladder as Ziggler was sent through a table.
New Day beat Corbin and Ziggler by DQ
Grade A
This segment worked for all. Ziggler was eliminated ahead of TLC, Reigns looked dominant, The Revival did their bit to the New Day and Corbin is still a huge heel.
TLC has been set up well by the SmackDown brand, and it will be interesting to see how things take place on Sunday.
