WWE SmackDown Results and Grades: Kevin Owens featuring on WWE SmackDown and hosting his show was one of the talking points ahead of this week’s show.

The guest was Alexa Bliss and the Fiend was surely set to make an appearance. Sami Zayn was to defend his Intercontinental title against Jeff Hardy while Roman Reigns, the Tribal Chief, was to speak after his actions at Clash of Champions.

WWE SmackDown started off with a highlight as Reigns came out to speak and here are the results and grades:

The Tribal Chief sends a message

Reigns and Paul Heyman took to the ring after a recap of the match at Clash of Champions. Heyman put Reigns over before the Big Dog claimed none of this would have happened if Jey Uso would have called him the Tribal Chief.

He called Jey out and offered him another title shot at Hell in a Cell. However, he didn’t want Jey to accept it. Reigns walked out but Jey accepted the challenge and then took out AJ Styles after the Phenomenal One came out.

Grade A

Everything said during this promo was spot on and it is a bit of a surprise why WWE didn’t push Reigns as a heel in the past.

Uso claiming that he would have won had his brother not thrown in the towel might not be right, but he was not the one who gave up.

The second battle between them should be interesting, especially if it is in the cell.

Styles vs Jey

Styles took on Uso right after the break and the pair hit it off right from the start.

Uso had some great moves as he looked to be in great shape after Clash of Champions. While Styles might have been the favourite a while back, it was the cousin of Reigns who picked up another big win in his singles career.

Uso beats Styles

Grade A

Styles picking up the loss was a bit surprising but this was WWE’s way to push Jey. The Uso has been excellent in recent weeks and it will be interesting to see how things work out for him.

Morrison vs Otis

John Morrison and Otis continued their feud from last week. Morrison started off hot in the match but it was Dozer who got the win in the end.

Otis beats Morrison

Grade C

Otis getting a win was expected but the way the match was dealt with wasn’t great. This seemed to be a filler of some sort and WWE don’t seem to know what to do with Otis any more.

Sheamus vs G

Chad Gable/Shorty G faces off against Sheamus and this was another quick match.

The Celtic Warrior made light work of his rival even though G had some decent hits on Sheamus.

Sheamus beats G

Grade D

This squash was also expected as soon as the names were called out. G is another star getting the short end of the stick and we don’t know what WWE’s plan for Sheamus is either.

Let him in

The KO Show started with Owens hinting he could be back on SmackDown after the 2020 WWE Draft.

Alexa Bliss came out next and Owens claimed the former champion was acting different and was brainwashed too.

Bliss asked Owens if he wanted to allow the Fiend in and just like that, the Fiend appeared and attacked Owens as the female star just watched.

Fiend and Bliss held hands to end the segment.

Grade A

This segment worked a treat as Bliss confirmed being under the spell of Wyatt. It will be interesting to see how things develop for her and the Fiend but WWE shouldn’t mess this up.

Six man madness

Baron Corbin teamed up with Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro to face off against Lince Dorado, Gran Metalik and Matt Riddle.

This was a crazy match with all six men trying to get the win for their team. In the end, it was Riddle who pinned Cesaro for the win but Dorado and Kalisto again squabbled after the match.

Grade B

Riddle, Dorado and Metalik beat Nakamura, Cesaro and Corbin

The match was great as all six men put on a show and WWE combined a couple of storylines. WWE are still teasing a break up for the Lucha House Party but when will it happen?

Hardy vs Zayn

There were a couple of developments before this clash with Carmella hitting out at the fans after revealing herself as the mystery SmackDown woman.

Sasha Banks also returned and added that she would face Bayley for the women’s title next week.

Hardy and Zayn both showed off injuries from the Clash of Champions ladder match as the title was on the line.

This was a great match as both men did their best to get the win. However, an exposed turnbuckle helped Zayn out after Hardy hit his head, and that led to a win.

Zayn beats Hardy

Grade B

The match would have gotten a better grade if WWE didn’t use that finish. Nevertheless, it is great to see Zayn back and getting his dues and it will be interesting to see what is next for the pair.
