WWE SmackDown Results and Grades: The main event for this week’s SmackDown saw Bayley defend her women’s title against Nikki Cross.
Cross defeated Alexa Bliss to get this shot last week, and this was going to be a real test for the champion.
AJ Styles also defended his WWE Intercontinental title against Gran Metalik, and this is where we start with the SmackDown results and grades piece.
Styles tried to neutralise Metalik’s flying offence but the Luchador had some big moves that caught out the champion.
However, Styles was able to get the win via a calf crusher and then attacked Lince Dorado with a Styles Clash.
Styles beats Metalik
Grade B
This was a decent enough match to start SmackDown with. Metalik used his unique offence of the champion, but Styles was too good for him and wasn’t troubled all that much in this battle.
King Corbin faced off against Drew Gulak in the next match. Corbin got the win just as Matt Riddle’s music hit and the Original Bro came out to attack the King.
However, Shorty G took apart Riddle after Corbin had placed a ransom on his rival’s head. G then walked off with Corbin.
Corbin beats Gulak
Grade B
While the Corbin vs Gulak clash was a typical affair, the turn from G was interesting. Shorty has been overlooked a lot on SmackDown but turning heel will certainly be interesting.
Big E got to show off his singles ability as he took on the Miz. Kofi Kingston told E to concentrate on his singles run after the high-flyer was ruled out for six weeks with an injury.
While John Morrison tried to give Miz the advantage by attacking E early on, it was E who picked up the win via submission.
E beats Miz
Grade B
The Miz is one of the best workers in the business and he ensured this match was good. However, E getting the singles push should be great and it will be interesting to see what WWE has planned for him too.
WWE continued to put Naomi vs Lacey Evans matches and tried to get some traction with the latest instalment.
Naomi got the win this time and Evans wanted to trend her hashtag too.
Naomi beats Evans
Grade C
Both women deserve better than what WWE is doing with them. Naomi getting the win was great but it doesn’t really do much for either star.
We saw Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose go at it again after a long time on SmackDown. Rose and Otis were set for a date but God’s Greatest Creation wanted to freshen up.
Deville attacked Rose, clipped off a chunk of her hair but was stopped from taking off more by the officials.
Grade B
Deville is one of the best things in WWE at the moment and she can do no wrong. She was perfect in this segment and WWE played the psychology bit well.
Losing a chunk of hair shouldn’t be a problem for anyone but for someone who believes in perfect, like Rose, this could be lead to some mental scars.
Bayley tried her best to win the match but Bayley was just too good for her. As Bayley kept her title, Cross was left frustrated and walked out on Alexa Bliss by her side.
This saw The Fiend make an appearance as Bray Wyatt put on a show during a Firefly Fun House segment targeting Braun Strowman.
Bliss was terrified with the appearance of the Fiend and he latched in the Mandible Claw on her to end the show.
Bayley beats Cross
Grade A
Watching Cross lose her cool and push away Bliss after the match showed how vulnerable Bliss actually is without someone by her side.
The Fiend attacked Strowman’s old tag partner and someone who has romantically been linked with Bliss on SmackDown in the past too.
