WWE SmackDown results and grades: SummerSlam is just a few weeks away and WWE is planning hard for the next PPV.

WWE had already shared some of the matches for this week’s show with Jeff Hardy and Baron Corbin meeting.

Sonya Deville was to respond after her attack on Mandy Rose last week while Bray Wyatt was back. However, we start this week’s WWE SmackDown results and grades piece with another rivalry.

Riddle vs Sheamus

Matt Riddle faced off against Sheamus after a package from Bray Wyatt. Sheamus started the match by dominating the Original Bro, however, Riddle found his way back in the clash.

The match went back and forth before Short G made his way and interfered. He attacked Riddle and caused Sheamus to lose the match via DQ.

Afterwards, Riddle got the better of G before Sheamus kicked the former Olympian.

Riddle beats Sheamus

Grade B

The match was going well before G decided to interfere. Sheamus confronted Corbin and told him to stay out of his business, and it will be interesting to see what is next.

Deville TV

The Miz TV was next and faced some technical difficulties with the Miz joking about Retribution on Raw.

Deville came out and lambasted Rose, while claiming she had fun chopping her hair off. Heavy Machinery then came out and beat up Miz and John Morrison.

Grade B

The Miz TV was decent enough with even a mannequin wearing a wig. Deville has been great and this promo was good too but nothing new or special. The surprise was seeing Tucker back with Otis and they took out their rivals.

Cesaro gets a win

Lince Dorado and Cesaro met in a singles match and it was the Swiss star who used his power to pick up the win.

Dorado still had some decent moments but it wasn’t enough to get the better of Cesaro.

Cesaro beats Dorado

Grade C

Cesaro and Dorado are capable of putting on a show but this was a short match. It would have been great if Dorado got the win, but this just handed more momentum to the tag champs.

Twisted Bliss

Wyatt brought up another Firefly Fun House segment before coming to the ring with Alexa Bliss sitting.

He tried to apply the Mandible Claw but Bliss was able to stop him, and the pair seemed to be in sync. Braun Strowman’s voice could be heard in the arena and he claimed he had turned into the Monster after the Swamp Fight.

He also claimed he didn’t have any feelings for Bliss and wanted to take out Wyatt.

Grade C

Last week’s moment where Wyatt and Bliss met was incredible, however, this was a bit of a letdown.

While Bliss and Wyatt were great, the entire Strowman angle wasn’t all that fun and brought down the grade.

Double duty for Corbin

Hardy and Corbin clashed in the next match of the evening. However, Sheamus ran in during the match to hit Hardy with a Brogue Kick to cause a DQ.

This then turned into another battle between the heels as Corbin faced Sheamus. This time, it was Riddle who came out to cause a distraction and help Sheamus beat Corbin.

Hardy beats Corbin; Sheamus beats Corbin

Grade C

WWE is making things overcomplicated with some segments, such as this one. One DQ after the first match was fine but then having Riddle help Sheamus made little sense.

It will be interesting to see what is next for the quartet after the madness on this week’s show.

Heavy Machinery get going

Tucker and Otis finally being together should lead to some fun segments. The pair were in tag action taking on The Miz and John Morrison.

Deville was cheering on the Miz and Morrison while Rose was with Tucker and Otis. The two teams slugged it out before the women got involved and the match ended in a no contest.

There was a lot of confusion backstage too before Retribution made their mark on SmackDown too. They attacked the crowd and the wrestlers before destroying the ring with a chainsaw.

Grade B

The match went as expected before the women got involved, and it made sense to not give a result. However, it might have been better if Retribution came out and interfered in the match and caused the no result.

Retribution is certainly an interesting bit for WWE to explore, and hopefully, they don’t mess it up.
