WWE SmackDown Results and Grades: The first night of the WWE Draft was always going to be special and there were some major changes made for both brands.
Raw and SmackDown could pick any wrestlers they wanted, including the ones on their own brand.
Stephanie McMahon came out to start the show and confirmed that Drew McIntyre was staying on Raw. The next move saw SmackDown keep Roman Reigns while Raw kept Asuka.
Seth Rollins moved to SmackDown while Raw kept the final pick of the round by keeping the Hurt Business.
Big E was in action next as he took on Sheamus in a Falls count anywhere match. The pair used a ton of weapons on each other and even fought on top of a car.
It was E who picked up the win in the end as he finally got one over Sheamus,
E beats Sheamus
Grade A
The first round of the brand wasn’t all that great but this match was spectacular. Sheamus vs E should be done now and hopefully, WWE has bigger plans for him.
Roman Reigns was called out by Jey Uso to find out what the special stipulation was for their match at Hell in a Cell.
Reigns appeared later and said that he wanted to face Jey in an I Quit match.
The next set of draft picks saw AJ Styles move to Raw, Sasha Banks staying at SmackDown, Naomi moving to Raw, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler staying on Raw while Bianca Belair moved to SmackDown.
Grade A
An I Quit match was the logical way to go since Reigns wants to be called the Tribal Chief. The second round of the draft wasn’t bad as Styles moved back to Raw and Belair could make the women’s division on SmackDown stronger.
Matt Riddle and Jeff Hardy teamed up to face the Miz and John Morrison. It was the pairing of Riddle and Hardy that got the win before the returning Lars Sullivan destroyed all four stars.
Riddle and Hardy beat Miz and Morrison
Grade C
This match was all about Sullivan returning and he did a good job of destroying the four. It was, however, poor for the four men who were made to look like jobbers.
Sasha Banks and Bayley were to meet for the SmackDown Women’s title but McMahon shared more details of the next draft.
Raw kept Ricochet while the Usos remained on SmackDown. Mandy Rose remained on Raw as well but The Mysterios moved to SmackDown while the Miz and Morrison moved to Raw.
The match between the former best friends started off great but it was Bayley who used a chair to get herself disqualified and kept the title.
Banks beats Bayley
Grade C
The ending of the match was always going to be sketchy as this was a match for Hell in a Cell. The pair will meet for that and it wasn’t great seeing the Mysterios following Rollins as this crazy storyline will continue.
Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura took on the New Day as they defended their tag titles.
The match was an excellent affair but it was the New Day picking up the win and celebrating wildly.
However, McMahon had bad news for the pair. Big E was staying on SmackDown but Kingston and Woods were moving to Raw.
Raw also kept Angel Garza and Dana Brooke while SmackDown kept Otis.
New Day beats Cesaro and Nakamura
Grade B
The pairing of Woods and Kingston returning was great for all to see but seeing the break up of the New Day was a little upsetting.
WWE could have just kept the trio together but it will be interesting to see what happens with E next.
The Fiend took on Kevin Owens in the main event and there was no stopping the Fiend.
Owens threw everything he had at him, even sending the Fiend through a table but nothing kept him down.
The Fiend hit Owens with the Mandible claw to pick up the win. Alexa Bliss and the Fiend ended the show being together.
Fiend beats Owens
Grade C
This was another expected result as The Fiend wasn’t affected by any of Owens’ attacks.
It will be interesting to see what is next for the pair but Bliss being involved in all this is also great.
