WWE SmackDown results, winners, grades and reaction: Goldberg was back in a WWE ring ahead of Super ShowDown

WWE SmackDown results, winners, grades and reaction: There was a lot of action on show ahead of Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia.

The evening kicked off with the Usos calling out Robert Roode, Dolph Ziggler, John Morrison and The Miz.

The Usos and The New Day celebrating was one of the highlights from this SmackDown show (WWE)

They had some backing with Kofi Kingston and Big E teaming up. It was the faces who had the better of the early proceedings and there was further madness with all eight men having a go at each other.

Jey Use hit a Superkick on Roode and picked up a win for the faces.

The Usos and The New Day beat Roode, Ziggler, Morrison and Miz

Grade B

All eight men had some great spots in the ring and while there were some fun moments, the match didn’t live up to its billing.

Mixing four tag teams for a match with no real story was also risky, and it will be interesting to see how things develop at Super ShowDown.

Heartbreak defence for Otis

Tucker confronted Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville as Otis was left stranded recently.

Rose was seen with Dolph Ziggler while she lied about running late to Otis. Deville, however, didn’t care much for all this and claimed that Ziggler was more of Rose’s type.

There was also a segment of Lacey Evans speaking about her old bullying days and claimed she would be better in the future.

The Southern Belle also targeted the Elimination Chamber match as she hopes to win the women’s title.

Grade B

The storyline between Otis and Mandy took another turn and there seems to be something fishy about the text she “sent” to her date.

Deville could have played a role in all this, and it will be interesting to see how things develop.

The Evans interview didn’t really make sense now, but at least she is targeting the title, which is what she needs to keep doing.

The Symphony of Destruction

Braun Strowman and Elias teamed up to face Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro.

A Symphony of Destruction match brings in a ton of musical instruments to use, and the quartet used them all.

Guitars, pianos and more were used in this match with a few tables thrown in too. Strowman and Elias picked up the win.

Strowman and Elias beat Nakamura and Cesaro

Grade C

This was a decent gimmick match but it just didn’t feel right. There could have been more destruction but using the piano was a great move.

The feud, however, doesn’t seem to be progressing well and hopefully, we get something better in the coming weeks.

The Bella Twins return

Alexa Bliss hosted her “Moment of Bliss” segment featuring Nikki and Brie Bella. The Bella Twins are the latest inductees to the WWE Hall of Fame.

The Twins confirmed that both were pregnant and Daniel Bryan also joined the segment.

Grade D

There really wasn’t much in this segment, apart from the new inductees to the Hall of Fame.

Bryan coming, in the end, was a decent touch, but this segment just didn’t catch on.

Bryan faces Slater

Drew Gulak met with Bryan at backstage and highlighted some flaws in his game.

Bryan was back in action against Heath Slater and picked up an easy win with Gulak joining the team on commentary.

Bryan beats Slater

Grade D

Bryan isn’t going to Saudi Arabia for Super ShowDown and this match didn’t really do much in terms of storyline.

No.1 contender’s match for Women’s title

Bayley will be defending her title at Super ShowDown and Carmella battles Naomi to face the champion.

Carmella had a huge superkick but couldn’t get the three count. Both women had chances to pick the win with some terrific moves.

It was a great match but Naomi picked up the win thanks to a split-legged Moonsault.

Naomi beats Carmella

Grade B

This wasn’t the greatest match but it will be interesting to see how Naomi does against Bayley in Saudi Arabia.

Naomi vs Bayley will be interesting, especially with WrestleMania around the corner.

Goldberg is back

Goldberg returned but his time on the mike was cut by the Firefly Funhouse segment.

Bray Wyatt claimed that Goldberg didn’t meet all of his pals as The Fiend made an appearance.

Goldberg speared the champion but the fallen star was gone after the lights came back again. The challenger was left standing in the ring as The Fiend’s laughter rang through.

Grade B

Goldberg facing Wyatt doesn’t really make a lot of sense at Super ShowDown, however, this could be a way of getting more money to the brand.

The segment was fine, otherwise, and it will be interesting to see if Goldberg can wrestle a lot in a few days.
