Tegan Nox injury history and wrestling background
Steffanie Newell, also known as Tegan Fox in the wrestling ring, is the only Welsh female professional wrestler currently with the WWE.
The 24-year-old has been one of the rising stars in the NXT brand over the years but has had some bad luck with injuries too.
Nox has partnered Dakota Kai in recent weeks and was in action on NXT as they faced the Kabuki Warriors for the Women’s Tag Team Championships.
The more experienced Warriors ended up winning the fight, but not before Kai and Nox made things tough for them.
The Welsh wrestler has had a tough time in recent years with injuries and was out of action for close to a year.
Injury history
The 24-year-old signed for the WWE in 2017 but missed out on the Mae Young Classic due to an ACL injury.
However, things took a turn for the worse in the 2018 edition of the Mae Young Classic.
The wrestler suffered several injuries which included a dislocated knee, a fracture in her left tibia, torn ligaments, a torn meniscus and bone contusions (h/t Wales Online).
Nox was comforted later by WWE COO Triple H, and the youngster was determined to return stronger than ever.
However, this isn’t the first time she has had to deal with adversity.
Coming from Europe, Nox had football (soccer) trials with Cardiff City and the Welsh National team.
She even played tag rugby and netball but she lost her place in a Wales U16 team. Nox suffered a knee injury when she was only 13 and she decided not to pursue football by the time she turned 16 (h/t Wales Online).
Kick-starting her WWE career
The 24-year-old has constantly shared her return from injury on social media consistently.
Tegan Nox’s Instagram and Twitter accounts are filled with photos and captions from her journey, and she seems ready to make up for lost time.
The Welshwoman is still young in the wrestling business but has wrestled for many other promotions.
Nox started her career at Attack! Pro Wrestling before moving to Fight Club: Pro. She has also wrestled for What Culture Pro Wrestling, Shimmer Women Athletes, Progress Wrestling and World Wonder Ring Stardom before making it to the WWE.
The 24-year-old has also won multiple titles in her short wrestling career, and it will be interesting to see how things develop for her at NXT.
WWE has produced some standout stars from their third brand in recent years, and Nox could be the next one to follow.
The 24-year-old is one of the most talented wrestlers on the roster and seems set to leave a mark after being out of action for a while.
