The importance of family is more than any professional wrestling. But some families are united by wrestling with children going into the business just like their parents. Pro Wrestling has seen some of the greatest families who enjoyed their dominance on the bigger stage. Here are the top-5 most successful wrestling families in Pro-wrestling history.
1. McMahon Family
Wrestlers for the family: Jess McMahon, Vince McMahon Sr., Vince McMahon Jr., Linda McMahon, Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H
Years Active: 1915- present
They are the pioneer of WWE and the First Family of the WWE. Jess McMahon founded Capitol Wrestling Corporation in 1952. His son Vince Sr took over in 1954, and In 1982, Vince Jr purchased the company from his father and turned it into a national promotion. It turned out to be the biggest Sports Entertainment company.
The fourth generation of McMahons consists of Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon, who married Triple H. This whole family also bled into several on-screen storylines. The most iconic one came at WrestleMania 2000, with all the McMahons (Vince, Steph, Shane, and Linda) in the main event.
Stephanie is currently the WWE’s chief brand officer. At the same time, Triple H is the executive vice president of talent, live events, and creativity. They are indeed the ones to take the company forward after Vince Jr.
2. Anoa’i Family
Wrestlers for the family: The Rock, Roman Reigns, Yokozuna, The Usos, The Wild Samoans
Years active: 1962-present
They are one of the biggest influencers in WWE. The Anoa’i family has produced more wrestling stars than any other family. From the likes of Dwayne The Rock Johnson, who conquered WWE and then went on to become one of the biggest movie stars in the current time to Roman Reigns, who has been a champion for over 600 days now.
Six different members of the Anoa’i family are in the WWE Hall of Fame. Another considerable part of the family is Yokozuna, a World Champion. This proves that the Anoa’i family has always been the rulers of the ring.
3. Hart Family
Wrestlers for the family: Stu Hart, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith, Jim Neidhart, Natalya Neidhart
Years active: 1943-present
Probably one of the biggest wrestling families in the world. Stu and Helen Hart had 12 Children, out of which eight boys became wrestlers and four girls who all were married to wrestlers.
Bret, “The Hitman” Hart, is the biggest star of the family and was the face of the WWE once. He was involved in several iconic matches, captured the WWF title five times, and has two inductions into the WWE Hall of Fame.
His niece and Stu’s granddaughter Natalya is the only remaining active wrestler. She has been a Guinness book record holder and has been with WWE since 2008. In addition, this family owns and operates Stampede Wrestling (a Canadian promotion). Every Hart wrestler came through this promotion.
Owen Hart was also one of the big names from the family who performed some entertaining matches in his career before his tragic death in May 1999.
4. Rhodes Family
Wrestlers for the family: Dusty Rhodes, Cody Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes (Goldust)
Years active: 1967-present
Rhodes family has been a staple of WWE, with each member involved in different company eras. Dusty Rhodes had one of the most incredible careers in wrestling. He was a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion and was a main part of WCW. Dusty’s older son Goldust took his father’s baton and had a memorable gimmick in WWE. His character was one of the defining ones of WWE’s Attitude Era.
The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes is the younger son of Dusty. He also captured the Intercontinental Championship title and Tag Team titles in WWE. But then, he recently found AEW, where his brother is also a part.
However, Cody recently returned to WWE after 6 years and is currently feuding with Seth Rollins on WWE TV.
5. Flair Family
Wrestlers for the family: Ric Flair, Charlotte Flair, David Flair
Years active: 1972-present
The Flair family might be small, but it is one of the iconic ones. Two of this families members have been the greatest champions ever. Flair is a sixteen-time World Champion and two-time WWE Hall of Famer. He is regarded as arguably the greatest wrestler of all time.
Ric’s son David also became a champion in WCW. However, Ric’s youngest son died at the age of 25 in 2013 due to an overdose. His death inspired Charlotte to pursue wrestling as a career.
Charlotte has already become the most successful female Superstar of all time. He has won the Divas title to SmackDown, RAW and NXT Women’s title. She is a 15-time champion and is one of her way to growing his father’s legacy even more.
