WWE vs AEW: – AEW has given the well-established WWE a run for its money ever since it started with its inaugural event Double or Nothing
A couple of months ago it was reported (as per Brandon Thurston) that for the first time since 2004, WWE had finished 2021 with its lowest month for Google web search. It was the lowest since Google Trends started.
The recent report posted by Brandon Thurston indicates that things haven’t gotten better for Vince McMahon’s company.
While AEW’s curve has been on the rise, WWE’s curve has flattened out from June last year to now. WWE’s Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon appeared recently on The Pat McAfee Show. He was asked about his thoughts regarding the competition provided by AEW. Vince smartly avoided the question but internally he would be feeling the heat.
AEW has done tremendously well over the last few years. They have also signed some of the superstars from WWE who are fan favorites like Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Shawn Spears, Keith Lee, and many others. All these superstars had terrific potential but WWE’s writers couldn’t find suitable plots for them. AEW signed them and brought out their best.
This has resulted in fans wanting talented wrestlers who don’t get sufficient opportunities in WWE to sign for AEW and realize their potential.
What’s in store for both the companies in the near future?
AEW’s last event was the Revolution Pay-Per-View. The PPV was received very well by the fans.
The event featured some thrilling moments and surprise signings. The MJF match with CM Punk and the Bryan Danielson versus Jon Moxley bout stole the show. The moment of the PPV has to be The Icon Sting’s gravity-defying jump sending Andrade and himself through the tables.
The event also featured the AEW debut for former NXT General Manager William Regal. Another important moment came when Tony Schiavone announced former WWE superstar Shane Strickland as a new acquisition for AEW. The main event saw Hangman Page predictably defend his World Championship successfully against Adam Cole.
WrestleMania 38 can be the savior for WWE
WWE’s biggest event of the year is less than a month away. The event will be spread across two nights on 2nd and 3rd April.
The company has left no stones unturned to make the event as stupendous as it can get.
The card features some exciting matches, especially in the women’s division. Ronda Rousey will take on SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair for the title. Becky Lynch will defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair. The obnoxious duo of Queen Zelina and Carmella will defend their tag titles against the newly formed team of Sasha Banks and Naomi.
There are a few celebrities who will feature in the card for WrestleMania. The likes of Logan Paul, Johnny Knoxville, and Pat McAfee will compete in separate matches.
The main event will feature a huge match as Universal Champion Roman Reigns takes on WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in a champion versus champion title unification match.
