WWE chose not to televise a particular match at this week’s Main Event.
Interestingly this week a match was completely cut from the TV at this week’s Main Event broadcast. This was a result of certain changes in the WrestleMania match card. Instead of that match being aired, the slot was given to highlights from RAW and SmackDown.
During the Main Event tapings that took place before Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, the former United States champion Apollo Crews wrestled Austin Theory in a singles competition.
This match wasn’t featured when WWE Main Event was eventually broadcasted. If this particular match wasn’t supposed to be aired in the first place then it would mean that WWE only intended to air the Veer Mahaan versus Storm Grayson squash match instead of the customary two matches.
Veer Mahaan’s squash match ended in less than four minutes. No official reason was given why the Theory versus Crews match wasn’t aired. However, it has been pointed out that a change in WrestleMania 38 plans made after the taping was the reason behind the match not making the broadcast.
Austin Theory revealed that he would face Pat McAfee at ‘Mania on SmackDown last week. This was after Vince McMahon offered McAfee a match at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
As per initial rumors Vince McMahon was supposed to wrestle McAfee and have Theory interfere in the match. But now it’s Pat McAfee versus Austin Theory.
Theory featured in the Madison Square Garden house show, where he challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. However, Lesnar would retain his title before being brutally taken out by Roman Reigns and The Usos.
Results from Madison Square Garden house show:
From the RAW Tag titles to the WWE Championship to the RAW women’s championship all were defended at the show.
Here’s a look at the results:
- RAW Tag Team championship match – Alpha Academy (c) beat RK-Bro
- SmackDown Tag Team Championship match – The Usos (c) beat The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston)
- United States Championship match – Finn Balor(c) beat Damien Priest by disqualification
- RAW Women’s Championship match – Becky Lynch (c) beat Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair
- Drew McIntyre beat Sami Zayn
- Ronda Rousey and Naomi beat Charlotte Flair and Sonya Deville
- Universal Championship match – Roman Reigns (c) beat Seth Rollins
- WWE Championship match – Brock Lesnar (c) beat Austin Theory
In addition to this, The Miz hosted MizTV with Kevin Owens as his special guest. Owens discussed what happened to Logan Paul last year. The Miz asked for a reminder and Owens executed the stunner and laid him out. Brock Lesnar was attacked after the match by Reigns and The Usos.
The Beast Incarnate was left bloodied and this will surely make him even more furious than he already was with the Universal Champion.
On expected lines, no championship changed hands however, at WrestleMania there’s a possibility of many championships being won and lost.
