The city of Los Angeles is an NBA basketball powerhouse. Cities such as New York, Miami, and Chicago are also in this category, but the Los Angeles Lakers’ history in the city of Angels is unparalleled.
The newest point guard for the Purple and Gold returns to L.A. with a history with the Lakers’ city rival, the Los Angeles Clippers, as the Lakers faithful like to call them. With the Lakers’ acquisition of former Utah Jazz guard Patrick Beverley, he returns to the city where he helped the Clippers establish themselves as a consistent conference title contender.
Patrick Beverley Throws a Welcome Back to L.A. Party
To commemorate his return to Los Angeles with the Lakers, the 6-foot-1-inch point guard hosted a welcome back party, instructing his guests to “have a great time,” according to Clutch Points:
Beverley, known on the court for his defensive tenacity and off the court for his high energy, should provide the Lakers with an element that was lacking last season.
While Beverley did not expect to be traded this summer, the three-time All-NBA Defensive Guard expressed his excitement about playing not only for the Lakers but also alongside All-Stars LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook.
Time will tell how the Lakers will look this year. Still, the addition of a sparkplug like Beverley is already a good step in the right direction for changing the culture and accumulating more victories this year compared to last. It appears that he is happy to be back playing in L.A.
Beverley is eager to work with Darvin Ham.
When he promised to alter the Lakers’ roster this offseason, Rob Pelinka kept his word. Along with the fresh faces laced up for the Purple and Gold, the coaching staff is also new.
The Lakers’ coaching staff is led by head coach Darvin Ham in restoring the team to its winning tradition among fans and the NBA.
Beverley recently stated that he is excited to play for Ham because the prospect of working with a new coach intrigued him when he first joined the Lakers.
