Beginning Season Two, Michael is in despair following his son’s murder and living in guilt. To try and find some peace within himself, he grows a wild beard and wanders aimlessly through town in tuxedo hoping that somehow justifying what led up to it will bring closure for himself and his son’s killing will happen. When approached by Assistant US Attorney Olivia Delmont (Rosie Perez), Olivia suggests an alternative route that might bring him closure and make things right again.
The second season was slightly slower than its predecessor but nonetheless an engaging and gripping drama. Its 10-episode run drew on its cast’s strength – including Isiah Whitlock Jr., Michael Stuhlbarg, and Hope Davis who all reprised their roles from earlier seasons – to deliver compelling drama without becoming overly formulaic or repeating familiar themes.
Bryan Cranston is no stranger to creating dynamic characters on television and film, yet his portrayal as a New Orleans judge in Your Honor stands out as being extraordinary. Cranston stars as Michael Desiato from Breaking Bad fame; in Your Honor his convictions are put through rigorous testing when his son becomes involved with an organized crime family and their hit-and-run incident that ultimately threatens Michael Desiato himself.
Michael initially advises Adam to confess; however, as he schemes and lies to protect Adam from Jimmy’s gang of criminals, Michael begins to lose his moral bearings; tampering with witnesses, destroying evidence, and even using his position to overturn murder convictions are just some of his actions that threaten Adam’s safety. By season’s end it becomes evident that Michael has gone too far, leading up to a tragic ending where Eugene shoots Adam during an attempted assassination attempt against Baxter.
Your Honor, an Israeli series Kvodo adaptation, is a riveting drama that delves deep into power dynamics and how those in control use it to their advantage.
