Liverpool vs West Ham United: Jurgen Klopp’s men thrash the Hammers 4-0

Liverpool started off right where they finished last season in the Premier League. The Merseysiders thrashed West Ham United 4-0 at Anfield, much to the delight of the home crowd.

Jurgen Klopp has successfully built a solid team and they have only gotten more powerful this season. The Hammers stood no chance as the Reds ran amok, bolstered by the thunderous support and cheers of their fans.

Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah opened the scoring with a beautiful goal in the 19th minute. And then, a stunning brace from Sadio Mane placed them comfortably in the driver’s seat as West Ham seemed flustered. The Senegalese sensation scored a goal right before half-time, which evoked a questionable celebration from Klopp.

Once the second half commenced, Mane found the back of the net once more. The fourth goal came via Daniel Sturridge, who scored a brilliant strike towards the dying minutes of the game.

Naby Keita and Alisson Becker looked resplendent in their new Liverpool jerseys and their performances on the field were quite impressive as well. Keita was a powerhouse in the midfield and his combined partnership with Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner silenced their West Ham counterparts throughout the game.

Speaking of the Londoners, they did have a few chances to cause some damage in the latter half of the match but unfortunately for new manager Manuel Pellegrini, his team failed to convert them. Xherdan Shaqiri also came on for Mane in the final stages of the game and the Swiss man certainly added a greater attacking threat in the final third.

All in all, it was an excellent game for the Reds and they have certainly embarked on the new season in impeccable fashion. As expected, Liverpool fans were ecstatic on Twitter and here are some of the best reactions:
