Yves Pons Career
The adopted parents of Pons admitted him to a French sports institute INSEP in Paris. His basketball journey started from there. Pons improved a lot each year and played all the division leagues of the French League. After a while, Pons decided to shift to the United States to play college basketball for Tennessee under the guidance of coach Rick Barnes.
With lots of expectations, Pons entered Tennessee because coming all the way from France and playing for an American College is still a dream for many aspirants. But unfortunately in his debut for Tennessee against Presbyterian, Pons injured his ankle and was rested. His injury impacted the whole freshman season as he averaged only 5.2 minutes per game out of the 24 games he played. His curse for injuries continued to his sophomore season too, this time he suffered a facial fracture during practice and missed a lot of matches. As a junior, Pons averaged 10.8 points per game with 5.4 rebounds per match.
Pons entered into the 2021 NBA draft but was left undrafted. He then joined the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2021 NBA Summer League. After some time, his Exhibit 10 contract shifted to a two-way contract, that is to spend time with the Memphis Grizzlies and their G League affiliate the Memphis Hustle equally. At the end of the 2021 season, Pons signed with the Brooklyn Nets for the 2022 NBA Summer League. But the contract was not extended by the Nets and Pons signed a two-way with the French team ASVEL Basket.
