It Was Launched for Racing 

The main purpose of the Chevrolet Copo Camaro was to compete in racing. After an order from the National Hot Rod Association, these cars were built. The Copo Camaro featured in Super Stock Classes, NHRA Stock and Super Stock drag racing, and Stock Eliminator. The modern Copo Camaro cars still compete in racing.

Incredible Engines 

Just like other muscle cars, the Copo Camaro featured fierce engines. It was available with big-block V8 and all-aluminium big-block V8 engines. The performance was great because of the strong V8 engines. Copo Camaro engines produced 425 horsepower and 450-500 lb-ft of torque. The modern Copo Camaro vehicles are equipped with LSX V8 and supercharged V8 engines.

When the Copo Camaro was unveiled in 1969, it was available for $2,500 to $5,000 USD. As these are rare vehicles, the collector value has multiplied 100 times and it is available between $150,000 USD to $200,000 USD. The modern Copo Camaro vehicles are available between $90,000 USD to $120,000 USD.

Copo Camaro is not Street Legal

The modern Copo Camaro vehicles are not street-legal as they are launched entirely for drag racing. These come with racing tires and seats without light systems. When we speak about the original Copo Camaro, they were street-legal although the production was limited. Copo Camaro 60s models had license plates, headlights, and other features.

It is a Very Rare Vehicle

The Copo Camaro remains an extremely rare vehicle. As the motive of the manufacturers was to launch this as a racing vehicle, they had to reduce the total units for the Copo Camaro. When the Copo Camaro began production in 1969, only a total of 1000 units were sold. The production continued till 1972 and only 5,000 units were sold making it a rare muscle car. It was the same case for modern vehicles as well. The Copo Camaro was launched again in 2012 and only 69 units are being sold every year.

Massive 427 V8 Engines

The Copo Camaro was equipped with high-performance ZL1 427 V8 engines. This remains one of the best and rare V8 engines in history. Not many know that the 427 V8 engines of Copo Camaro were based on Chevrolet Corvette’s V8 engines. As a result, it delivered 430 horsepower which was equal to the top muscle cars in the world.
